Usery Legacy Fund
Thanks to the generosity of the late Honorable W.J. (Bill) Usery, Jr., the Usery Legacy Fund offers a free initial uniform to all new Preparatory School students and returning sixth-grade students, providing significant savings for families. To claim the free uniform, new and returning sixth-grade students must schedule a uniform fitting appointment with the GMC Bookstore by calling 478-387-4909.
Usery Legacy Uniform Stipend for
SY26-27.
Please review the following important information for
returning 3rd and 9th grade students:
Uniform Stipend Details:
- 3rd Grade Returning Students: Eligible for up to $120 stipend.
- 9th Grade Returning Students: Eligible for up to $200 stipend.
Important Information:
- The stipend is only valid for SY26-27 and must be used to purchase approved uniform items at the GMC Bookstore.
- The stipend has no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash.
- All stipends must be redeemed by Friday, February 12, 2027. Any unused portion will be forfeited after this date.
How to Redeem the Stipend:
- Visit the GMC Bookstore: Parents/guardians should visit the GMC Bookstore to select the uniform items needed.
- Select Approved Uniform Items: Use the stipend to cover the cost of approved items.
- Payment: The stipend will be applied to the total cost. Any remaining balance will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

Uniform Fitting Schedule
- New Students and Returning Sixth Graders must be present for the fitting.
- Families should contact the GMC Bookstore to schedule an appointment.
- SY25-26 fitting appointments begin June 8th-July 29th
(GMC Bookstore will be closed June 19th (GMC Holiday); June 29th (Year End Inventory & GMC Holiday)
- Beginning July 30th, please understand that the bookstore will be extremely busy welcoming the Junior College Corps of Cadets. This is the week prior to the 1st day of school for the Prep school.
The GMC Bookstore is located on the bottom floor of the historic Old Capitol Building, with entry from the end doorway closest to the football field.
