College Prep Academics

  • Program of study focuses on preparing students for success in the college/university of their choice

  • State of the art facilities with technological resources to support student learning

  • Graduation rate is 100% for the Classes of 2010 to 2019 with average of 97% enrolling in a post-secondary institution after graduation.

  • Honors and Accelerated Math and English courses offered beginning in the 6thgrade

  • 4 Advanced Placement (AP) courses certified by College Board & pre-AP courses offered in High School.  All 4 AP courses - Biology, Language, Calculus, and Statistics – have pass rates that consistently exceed State rates.  AP Language pass rate has exceeded global pass rate for past 8 years.  AP Biology pass rate has exceeded global pass rate for past 6 years.  AP Calculus has exceeded global pass rate for past 2 years.

  • SAT and ACT averages for top 75% of graduates continually exceed the state and national averages in each area

  • Dual Enrollment program with GMC Junior College.  During SY18-19, 47% of our Sophomores, 79% of our Juniors, and 67% of our Seniors participated in the Dual Enrollment program with Georgia Military College.  These 140 students successfully completed 636 college classes and earned 2,942 college quarter credit hours.  

  • Classes of 2015-2019 have been awarded over 9.2 million dollars in college scholarship funds in addition to HOPE and Zell Miller awards.   

  • Since 2007, 93% of graduates enroll in a college/university upon graduation; 95% returning for 2ndyear.

 

Character Development

  • Embodies mission of “Elevating the Character” in all aspects of school’s culture

  • All students bound by GMC Honor Code, “I will not lie, cheat, steal, nor tolerate those who do.”

  • Emphasis on community service; over 232 students honored with a Distinguished Order of the Servant Leader medal for completing 100 hours of community service within one year

  • Beginning with the Class of 2014, each class has established a “Class of” Scholarship to leave a lasting legacy to future GMC Prep students. The Classes of 2014 through 2019 have raised funds to fully endow their class scholarships.

Military (6th– 8thgrades) and Junior ROTC (9th– 12thgrades)

  • Provides daily leadership opportunities through positions of increasing responsibility and rank structure designed to maximize leadership development in every student.  

  • Military uniforms worn by all students in grades 6-12 and all faculty

  • Student-led military ceremonies including morning formation, drill, and parades

  • Military Extra-Curricular Activities include Color Guard, Drill Team, and Raiders.

  • All High School students are members of our JROTC program; which has achieved the recognition of being an “Honor Unit with Distinction” (Gold Star Program) for the past 20 years.

  • From 2014 through 2017, at least one student each year has received a Congressional Appointment and Acceptance to a United States Service Academy.  In 2018, one student received an appointment to the United States Coast Guard Academy Prep Program.  In 2019, one student received appointments to both the United States Air Force Academy and the United States Military Academy.  There are currently 7 Prep School graduates attending the Service Academies.

  • Full athletic program for grades 6-12 with our High School teams competing as a member of the Georgia High School Association.  Junior Bulldog athletic program for grades 3-5 in Football, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Basketball, and Soccer.
